Today was awful.
I'm dealing with crap back home, and I've yet to hear back from my professor about my extension. It may be revoked, and while I have it in writing, I'm too tired to fight it. I really hate not knowing. I've been known to have control issues...ahem...and so when I can't...I don't like it.
I tried talking to B, but that didn't get me anywhere. Other people have issues too, Lyndse! (what I have to keep reminding myself).
Work was rough. People were pissy, and took it out on others (me), and I'm too close to being finished to get myself fired.
On the way back here to TMH, I did have two girls hold the doors at Hart, so that was refreshing.
I took a nap, got up and ate dinner, and just wanted to crawl in a hole and not come out until my problems went away.
Talked to eC about it for a bit and was finally able to chill out.
I knew that after yesterday, today was bound to not be perfect - because yesterday was pretty dang close. Everything was just wonderful. Helped a friend, work flew by, it was just great. Today was the ying to its yang.
I took half a trazadone, so hopefully I'll be sleeping it away soon.
"Gotta be like the duck; let it roll off your back."
Quack, quack, bitches.

DC Adventures Day 43 (3.25.13)
This entry was written in two parts. These first two paragraphs are a short intro and a quick "abstract" if you will, of this blog entry.
Today was a great day, and it made me a very happy girl. Not a SINGLE person was rude to me. MULTIPLE people held doors for me, and helped me out with stuff (like which entrances were closed), and one of the train drivers told me I was so out of control we should call it "fly Monday". I've never been called "fly" before, so that was fun. I don't know if it was the snow, the incredible amount of niceness, or the 20mg Adderall - but today I was just happy. It will make leaving in 6 days that much more bittersweet - but I'm betting something will happen, or somebody will do something to try and ruin it. That may sound pessimistic, but that's how people in DC have been most of the time I've been here. Who knows? I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best!!
Part I: (wake up - 4:10p)
It snowed! I looked out my window before getting ready for work and it was accumulating, but just on the grass and muddy areas. I decided not to wear my rainboots, which was a big mistake - that I realized as soon as I walked outside. I didn't have time to run back in and change into them - it's a process tucking my pants in...so I just headed to the entrance of Hart that is directly across the street from TMH...only to have a guy yell to tell me that the entrance was closed - meaning I would have to go around to the staff entrance...meaning much more slush that could possibly soak my shoes and tights.
I passed a worm that had somehow ended up in the middle of the walkway, and, being me, I turned around, scooped him up, walked up to a tree, dug a hole in the mud, and tucked him in. I just ran my muddy fingers through the slush on the granite surrounding the tree which cleaned it all off quickly.
Luckily, the line wasn't long, and a girl told me that my backpack was awesome and that she loved it. I just smiled and twirled to the side so she could really take it in. I was afraid she was going to tell me it was covered in snow, because even though I had my huge umbrella, the rest of me did. I always love getting compliments on it - I mean, seriously. A turtle-shell backpack in Washington, DC? Heck, yes.
S took the 11:40 tour, and texted me a few minutes later to tell me the line to the CVC from Cannon was super long. About thirty minutes later he sent me a picture of the CVC - it was PACKED. Poor guy.
The next thing I knew, it was 2pm. Today FLEW by. I don't know if it's been because today has been so seemless, or if it's because I took my big Adderall...I don't care though - I love it. It's been great. so far and we only have 50minutes left until work is over for the day.
Part II: 7:30pm
The walk home was decent - I decided to do it in my high heels in order to keep my pants dry. Thank goodness I did, because not only was the ground soaking wet - it was raining quite steadily. I had girls hold the door for me at both Hart and TMH - which means that not ALL TMH girls are slobs - so that is promising.
I'm not gonna lie - I aboslutely LOVE that TMH is girls only. No boys upstairs, no boys in the basement with the TV (even though I've never been down there, not even once), no boys in the dining hall...because seriously? I get home, I get in my sweatpants, and I lounge around. The hair is in a messy bun and I'm not out to impress a single person - male OR female. I love it. I've got my girlfriends that I hang out with when they're here (all 3 of them), and then it's off to bed. I had no idea walking around in heels all day would be so dang exhausting. Okay, maybe I had some idea...but still!!
I do kind of wish we could have alcohol here though. Not because I'm looking to go on a bender - I just like a glass of wine at the end of a long day, and I really don't want to have to go to a bar in order to do that. Guys are at bars and that is not anything I wanna deal with while I'm here. Plus, you're expected to dress nice to go out here. After my long days - ain't NOBODY got time for that! :)
I've decided to end my evening with season 5 of Mad Men tonight. Sex and the City has been fun - but I need a break from those outta control women and their crazy lingo! I mean "sushi"? REALLY?! I'll never look at a California Roll the same again!! ;) I don't even know that anybody reading this will get that reference - seems like I'm so late to the S&tC train that everybody else has forgotten all their silly terms.
It's been sooooo long since I've watched MM though - I'm not sure I even remember what was happening at the end of season 4. I do remember thinking that it was starting to get odd though and I wasn't really feeling it. John Hamm is a nice looking man, but even I have a limit for how much drama I'm willing to watch in one show, regardless of how cute the lead actor is.
Well, my iPad is being ridiculous...so I'm gonna wrap it up here.

DC Adventures Day 42 (3.24.13)
Well, it's cold. And snowing now. Get it, DC!
I didn't end up going to sleep last night until really late - so, I slept in 'til 3. :)
I got up for brunch, of course, and watched church at 12...sort of. I kept falling asleep. Oops. Then I slept until 3.
I got up (slowly), got dressed (slowly), and got a call from Nom. She just got back from Mexico last night. We talked as I walked to the Capitol South Metro Station and apparently all but two of her "patients" had massive build up. It saddens me that so many people (I don't care what country they're from) aren't educated when it comes to oral hygiene. You've got to brush, people! And floss! I know I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to this kind of thing considering Nom has been a dental hygienist as long as I've been alive, but still! I'm not hating - I understand that if it's never been a priority in your culture then of course you'd have no reason to even consider it. But all that junk all on your teeth? Yech.
I stood outside of the metro station for a good while so we could finish our phone conversation, so when I finally got down and was waiting for my train, I realized I had about 30 minutes to get to CVS before their pharmacy closed.
It's the last weekend that they're doing construction on the lines - but this seemed to be the worst weekend yet. I'm assuming we were riding on a single rail, because the car kept rocking back and forth the whole time, and when people would get on/off, the car would rock. I started to get nauseous about four stops into the ride - which is highly unusual for me. By the time I finally got to Clarendon, I had a raging headache.
I got to CVS with five minutes to spare, and decided to get some mini popcorn bags and a small bag of pistachios. I also stopped by a pizza place (I think it's called 'The Bronx' or 'Bronx Pizza'), and got a slice of pepperoni. As I walked back to the station, I realized I had two missed calls from Gabby. I texted her, because I was going down into the metro station - turn out she wanted to have dinner. She said she was going to get a pizza too, so we agreed to meet in the dining hall when I got back.
I'm glad I grabbed the pistachios - I had to start eating them on the train because I got my nauseous headache almost as soon as we pulled out of the station. Eating helped, but it was still awful.
When I got back up top at Capitol South, it was started to drizzle. I barely got half a block before it turned into a flurry. I dropped something out of the pouch in my hoodie (my hands were full with a way too big pizza box, and my scarf, and my purse, etc.), and a man that was walking by actually stopped, came back, and picked it up for me! Turns out every now and then, there really are people that have manners. Thank goodness.
I laughed as I walked by The Library of Congress because they had the fountain out front running - and it's snowing. I know DC is getting ready for the blooming of the cherry blossoms - which is a HUGE deal here, but c'mon. Seriously?! Goobers.
Turned out Gabby had too much work, so about an hour or so after I ate my pizza (which was cold by the time I got home), I went down to the dining hall and popped one of my mini bags of popcorn. It took multiple times to get it to all pop which was good, because that dang counter was a HORRENDOUS MESS.
These girls are DISGUSTING. How do you drop your dinner all over the counter and NOT clean it up?! How can you spill coffee, or cherry Crystal Light, or hot chocolate, and NOT wipe it up?! So while waiting on my popcorn, I wiped as much of it up as I could. I refilled the coffee/coffee filter basket (because whoever used the last ones didn't think it important to refill the basket), and BURNT my dang popcorn. The bag wouldn't stop smoking. I could still hear it sizzling as I took it upstairs. A girl walked in to use the microwave as I was messing with it - I looked at her, held up my bag, and said, "Now that I've finished stinking it up (the microwave), it's all yours!"
I pulled out the big burnt pieces and ate the rest. I don't mind Freda-popcorn. That's a reference to my grandmother - she singes EVERYTHING, so we call singed/burned food "Freda food".
Now it's Sex and the City and sleepy times!
