At some point in all this mess, I messed up the numbers on my pictures on FaceBook. Ugh. THAT'S gonna be fun to fix.
I am so beyond excited and thankful for today. First Saturday I can recover since...awhile. Yess!!
I did not do a dadgum thing today, except chat with eC. And watch The Walking Dead on Netflix. Haha. We watched it together and discussed it as it progressed. eC hadn't seen the most emotional episode ever...for those of you that are fans...it's when they finally find Sophia, and Shane can't hold up his end of the big freak out he had in season 2. I've seen the episode three times now, and it is still as upsetting now as it was the first time I watched it.
For those of you that aren't TWD fans...sorry. I'm just letting you know what I did. :)
Oh! I also went down for dinner (first Saturday dinner at TMH ever), and met some new people since Gabby wasn't there. I met Stephanie from Oregon, and two other girls, but I can't remember their names. They got there as I was finishing up, so I didn't talk to them for long. I was very pleased to learn that Ms. Rose is the one that prepares dinner for us on Saturdays - I love that woman. She came in to the dining room around 6:10 and as soon as she said, "Okay ladies, you need to give us your trays so we can get them washed!" and everyone finished up and put our trays in the window in the kitchen. I told Ms. Rose that we only respond like that to her because we appreciate her so much. She liked that. It may sound like sucking up, but it's the dang truth.
Now that eC's gone, I'm snuggled up watching some Sex and the City. I did my 50 squats since I didn't get out and walk around.
I've got to get up and go to Clarendon tomorrow to pick up my Lyrica - I'm just hoping the rain waits until I get back to TMH. My back is killing me. This warm during the day and super cold at night thing is not pleasant. And it's supposed to snow an inch Monday. - Nope - Just checked my weather app and now it's supposed to snow an inch overnight and one to three more inches on Monday. Awesome. I just hope it really snows. Of course I sent my boots, my big winter jacket, and my nice sweaters back with my parents - figures. I'll figure it out though.

DC Adventures Day 40 (3.22.13)
Day 40. I can't believe I've been here for 40 days. It doesn't feel like it - not even a little bit.
Getting to rest last night was WONDERFUL. I have a much better outlook on my last week now.
Work was same ol', same ol'. Ka & Leslie left early today. They'd been gone for about 30 minutes when I got a call from Ka asking me to grab a bag she'd left as well as Leslie's phones. I thought that was pretty funny because I'm attached to my phone - I feel nekkid without it. Yes, nekkid. I met Ka down in the horseshoe outside of Rayburn. It was pretty chilly. The wind, that is. Standing in the sun it felt great - until the cold wind would pick up and blow my scarf into my face. :) I didn't mind though because it gave me the chance to talk to KNicole for a little bit while I waited.
Mr. Hall left for Texas around 12p, which meant we got to leave at 5pm. I'm so glad I know about the trains now because it has been getting COLD at night. It's like the chilly wind, minus the warm sun. Yech.
As I left work, I got a call from a number I didn't recognize. The caller id said it was coming from Kansas - and I don't know anyone from Kansas. I answered, but it was just a bunch of beeps. I figured it was a wrong number, so I hung up and didn't think much about it.
Until they called again. And again. And again. I tried pushing numbers back...nothing. I tried calling the number...nothing. I ended up getting TWELVE calls in one hour. Ridiculous. Then, after the twelfth call...it just stopped.
I ate a quick dinner in the dining hall and spent the rest of the evening catching up on my shows on Hulu. I went downstairs and talked with eC, a friend I made up here, for a bit but now it's time to pass out.
Night everyone!

DC Adventures Day 39 (3.21.13)
Uneventful day.
Started out by getting up early so I could have more time to stand in lines (ugh). Decided to go into the staff + visitors' entrance because the line was half the length of the staff line I stood in yesterday.
Bad call.
Stood in line for 20 minutes this time. And it was cold.
Finally got through to the Capitol building, and there were people all over the senate side for tours. I decided to wait for a group to walk through the doors into the Capitol, instead of cutting through. Because MY mother raised me right. The jerk intern holding the door for his group LETS GO OF THE DOOR as soon as the last person in his group made it through. Problem was, I was RIGHT behind her in their makeshift line. So now there's a door coming at my face. I had my head phones on, and instead of muttering like I generally do, all but yelled, "WOW!" at the door. And he heard me. Trying to save face, he hops back, grabs the door right as I'm catching it, and says, "Oh, sorry about that!" I just looked at him and said, "...yeah..." and walked past him, shaking my head. Really??
Then I sat at my desk all day. Nothing too exciting happened. Leslie did send out a really awesome email thanking everyone that had helped at the party last night, including the "top notch bartenders". :) That was really sweet. La and one of the Chief of Staffs replied, adding their thanks as well. So that was cool.
We technically got to leave at 5p, because Mr. Hall headed back to Rockwall this afternoon, but I stayed until about 5:45p finishing up my labeling project for the day.
When I got back to TMH, I got a text from Gabby about dinner, took a quick power nap, then went down stairs and ate with her. It was the first time I've really even seen her in over a week. It was nice to catch up and have some girl time. She got accepted into Columbia's journalism project - YAY! Her last day at TMH is the 31st also, so I'm prolly gonna help her move out next weekend.
After dinner I came upstairs and watched a lot of Hulu. It was nice to have no obligations for the first time in almost 2 weeks. I loved having my family and B here, but just doing NOTHING was really nice. I already feel more rested.
Fingers crossed it stays this way! Tomorrow is the first day we'll be out of session in 4 weeks - and I can't wait. Shouldn't be any lines to speak of. Of course, now that I say that, they will be the longest DC has ever seen. :)

DC Adventures Day 38 (3.20.13)
I kept thinking it was Thursday all day long. Weird.
The lines were so long outside of Hart today that I ended up being almost 25m late to work. I got an email from C, reminding me we are expected to be here by 9a unless a staff member has instructed us otherwise. It was the first time I hadn't emailed Leslie to let her know (I totally forgot while standing outside in the freezing cold listening to the idiots behind me in line) so I apologized and chugged on.
B met me by Cannon for lunch, and we walked down Pennsylvania - I got a DELICIOUS salad from a restaurant called Cosi, and he got a burger from Good Eats, which is next door to We, the Pizza. We sat outside while we ate, and I fed the birds chunks from my wheat pita bread. B's stressed about work, and I had a lot to bitch about too - it's nice to get that break where you can get all the daily frustrations off your chest with somebody that is removed from it all.
About an hour after lunch, Leslie asked me and S to help her carry flowers downstairs for a retirement party our office was helping throw for a lady on the Science, Space and Technology staff. I ended up delegating cheese, meat, and cracker tray responsibilities as well as making sure the drink table was set up in the most efficient way too. One of the men helping, we'll call him La, has a wife that is a party planner, so he was able to teach me some tricks to help things look more appealing. Believe it or not, I really do shut my mouth and learn how to do things better sometimes.
When I realized they had multiple bottles of champagne that they were going to let the partiers pour themselves, I set my foot down and said that I would pour. One lady was really against it, she didn't want me "getting stuck" during the party (that was going to be full of people I didn't even know), but I was firm in my decision, and got my way.
For the most part, it went very smoothly. There was another intern from California, Laura, helping us, and she was absolutely fantastic. Her sister had bartended in NYC (jealous!), so she stood back and watched how I interacted for a bit and then took charge and started doing it herself. We had a really good chemistry - we didn't get in each others ways once, and the whole time we were behind the table we had a blast. She wanted to try opening a bottle herself (I'd been popping the corks into the corner of the room we were right next to) and I don't know if she grabbed a warm bottle, or if she shook it first, but she spewed champy all over the wall and the curtains covering the window too. It was hilarious. I ended up running into a diet coke can later (they weren't put in a smart place - sort of under the table, but totally blocking the TRASH CAN) and spewed it all over the floor, but Laura had already left, so it wasn't nearly as entertaining.
Around 6:35 I decided to go ahead and head out, but when I went to let La know, he told me to go ahead and pour more champy, because he was going to start pushing people to finish it. I poured two more bottles and grabbed a third (one that I thought we had run out of, but found a warm bottle that I'd had on ice for about 30min) to check and see if it was ready, and if it was, ask La if he wanted me to go ahead and pour it too. Understand that at that time, we still had two bottles on ice, and many more in a box to the side. Some girl came up to me that I had only spoken to once or twice, and told me "We shouldn't pour anymore champagne - there's more than enough"....Okay, pet peeve #451: I can't stand it when people say "we" when there is no WE about it. It's condescending and drives me nuts. Pet peeve #231: Don't tell me how to do my job. I bartended and cocktailed for SIX years. I know when to pour and I know when to check. I was trying to check.
I tried to explain to her what was going on, and when she FINALLY walked off, I just put the bottle back on ice, went and found La, and told him I was gonna head out. I could've stayed and steamed - not worth it.
I met B at TMH, changed into jeans, and we headed to Fogo de Chao. We had to walk 7/10 of a mile when we got off the metro. I know, I know, 7/10 of a mile isn't that bad...but, as the guy walking behind us in the park learned - I felt like a huge screw was going through my bottom. In through the right side, and out the left, and every step felt like it was tightening the screw. In my defense, I had no idea the guy was walking behind us and in all honesty, I really didn't care. I don't mind giving random strangers something to laugh about with their friends later. In fact, I kind of like it. When he walked by, B was being very loud about the fact that he heard everything, the guy was smiling, and I said, "You're welcome".
But seriously, a giant screw through my butt. In fact, when I sat down on the subway, I could feel every single vertebrae stretch and pull. B got pictures of the whole thing, of course. To make matters worse, when we finally got to Fogo de Chao, B recognized the area and realized that there was a metro station RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET.
When we got inside, they told us the wait would be about an hour, so we grabbed a couple seats at the bar. B got a cab sauv, and I ordered a Knob Creek and Sprite. I end up ordering this every time I have to wait at a Fogo or Texas de Brazil. What's funny about the whole thing is that it's not even something I like. I just want to feel grown up (I never get carded when I order it - because obviously no minor would order a bourbon and sprite) and look cool! Haha. I really like the label on the bottle too. It kind of looks like an old passport that's been stamped a lot. :) Whatever.
A half hour later and the drink was barely an inch below where it had started. In my defense, the bartender was VERY gracious with his pour. Wow. B asked if I wanted more Sprite in it, and I told him no, because I've done that before, and it never makes it taste better. Oh well. When we got seated, I chugged most of it.
Dinner was fabulous, as it always is at Brazilian steakhouses. Their cheesy bread rolls tasted like they came straight out of the oven in Heaven. Warm, a bit flaky, seemingly full of air until your tongue hits the light cheesy center that melts into the rest of your mouth, mixing in with the bread...bliss.
When the server with the fillet Mignon walked by and asked if we wanted in, I about YELLED "yes". I've been craving a good steak for the last two weeks, and while the rest of the meat was good, the filet was what my heart had been set on from the moment B had said Fogo. It was wonderful.
Surprisingly, I didn't eat nearly as much as I used to. It puts into perspective just how much my eating habits have changed since I got here. I eat mini meals throughout the day, and the excessive walking definitely helps. I felt bad, because B picked up most of the check, but he was fine with it, and both of our tummies were happy, so it was all good.
Walking ACROSS THE STREET to the metro was good too. :)
I went the extra stop with B, because I won't be seeing him tomorrow morning before he leaves. We said our bye-byes, and when I got on the train, he walked up to the window and put his hand out on the glass. I cracked up, because the train had quite a few people on it, and they were all watching. As the train started to take off, he jogged beside it, hand still on the glass. I thought I was gonna pee my pants, I was laughing so hard. The people in the train with me were completely confused, and prolly thought I was a total bitch, or that B was an over-eager potential boyfriend, regardless, they got their story to tell friends and family. Again, they're welcome.
I talked with my dad for a bit on my walk back to TMH. I was trying to call to talk to Nom - she'd washed her cell phone, which is why I called my dad's phone, but she was getting ready to go run, so I told him to just have her call me when she was done.
Found out that a friend is probably going to have to re-enlist in the Army, or agree to be done in two years, which would ultimately cost them their promotion and force them out now. Not happy about that - shouldn't the decision to re-enlist not be bullied? I mean, I don't know how it all works, but it sounds frustrating to me. We'll see how it goes.
Talked to Nom for a good while - she leaves for Mexico tomorrow to go clean teeth until Saturday. She told me they'll be spending the nights in Texas though, so that makes me feel better.
*Until Next Time!*

DC Adventures Day 37 (3.19.13)
Having not slept at all last night, I got up and went to breakfast in the dining hall for the first time since I moved in. The guy was REALLY stingy with the bacon - even when I asked for more. I think I maybe ended up with four pieces? And I only got bacon and scrambled eggs! That were RUNNY nonetheless! Hot sauce (yes, hot sauce - NOT salsa) and ketchup made them okay. I went, showered, got dressed, and was STILL late for work.
I'm getting tired of lines into the Senate building/House buildings in the morning.
I understand that people are going to come here to lobby. I have no problem with that. I even understand them wanting to get to the offices around 9a - they don't realize how asinine that is. If we're in session, chances are EVERY SINGLE senator and congressman/woman is already in a meeting at 9am. They don't just trickle in throughout the day - they're here to WORK. Chances are, you're in THE WAY. I love it when they (visitors) forget their manners too. I'm thinking, "Here you are, being a fool in an elevator, pushing past me, and you don't even know if you're heading to my office or not. I could potentially RUIN your credibility as a decent human being, and you're still acting a fool. Well done, 'grown-up'. Well done."
SERIOUSLY?!
Oh, and just for the record, if the door says STAFF ENTRANCE ONLY - the security guards aren't going to let you through. Which means you'll have to go stand in ANOTHER 20minute line with the other dingbats that don't know how to read signs or be polite.
Don't get me wrong, not EVERYONE is this bad, many are very nice and courteous. Unfortunately in my experience here, the nice and courteous have been the minority.
Anyways...
I have been running on 45min of sleep so the morning went by pretty slow. I was asked to accompany one of the staffers (and her pup) to the Ford building so she could get our COF's BB cloned. I was there to move her car if anybody complained about her parking in front of the building. She's generally not too talkative - especially with interns - so I was afraid it was going to be a very awkward 30 minutes for me. Much to my surprise, she was very chatty, and actually pretty cool. The entire thing was completely painless. I even got to hold the pup while she delivered the phone - apparently she likes to run into the committee rooms while they're holding hearings. :)
I finally got in touch with B just in time to have him head over this way for lunch. We walked to We, the Pizza and ordered a pepperoni pie and I got a side Caesar. I got another Orange Cream Soda because they make each one fresh, and they're DELICIOUS.
The pizza was really good - but really greasy. My salad was good - but it was covered in big bacon chunks instead of little pieces. I generally wouldn't complain (especially after this morning), but they pack the bowl and it's hard to mix when there's an entire layer of bacon to get through. It also came with a big crouton.
Got back to work, and the rest of the day d r u g o n a n d o n....
The atmosphere was fun and energetic, the clock was just running slow!
Finally got off of work and went home to take a nap. I was pooped.
I slept HARD for about an hour until B called me and we decided to meet up for the Elephant Walk. Yes, you read that correctly. Elephants in DC!! The circus literally "came to town". And it was awesome. Surprisingly, a lot of people had their pups with them. Who brings a dog to an elephant show? Apparently about 1/6 of DC.
While the cops were setting up the street, I thought I saw elephant shadows, but they were just cop cars. "Elephants don't have lights, Nestor" B explained to me. Then the elephants came around the corner...and they had blue lights on their foreheads!! Haha I thought B was going to wet his pants when I pointed that out.
They were throwing these flashing light, bracelet, necklace things, and clown noses. We initially started out with one blue, one red, and two purple flashy things. I really wanted a green to complete the set, so we decided to catch up to them.
You'd think elephants would be slow. But they have BIG LEGs and BIG FEET, so they actually move fairly fast. It took us a good 10 minutes of brisk walking to catch up to the parade, and it seemed like every other kid had a green one as we passed. I eventually caught up to one of the girls with a bag of them and walked up the hill with her while she went through the bag...she couldn't find a single green one.
I walked back down the block to where I had left B (he hadn't been paying attention and I didn't have time to NOT catch up to the girl with the bag) and he had a green one!! He'd traded a purple one he'd gotten when I walked off for it. Bummer is - the green one doesn't light up. Happy thing is - I have one of every color because my Bestie is better than yours!
After that little escapade, we walked to the front side of the Capitol, because I had never been on that side and wanted to see it. It was pretty cool - but, as B pointed out, it's sad that the stairs are blocked off, meaning that the general public can't just walk in to an easily accessible government. I get why (thanks, terrorists!), but it's still sad. 9/11 is why we have the Capitol Visitor's Center (CVC), which is actually really nice, but yeah...
We walked around to the other side, "my" side, and decided to go to Tune Inn for a (late) dinner. We got there and it was stifling hot inside. It had gotten really cold after the sun went down, but gracious! We ordered some drinks and mozz sticks, and B asked them to change one of the tvs to the Thunder/Nuggets game. We caught the last 2.5 minutes of the game. Ouch. I did, however, cool off during the game. Guess it all worked out okay. For us, not the Thunder. Sorry, guys.
B got a fried burger, and I went with the veggie option. It was all delicious.
When we left it was a little before midnight, so I convinced B to walk with me to TMH and told him he could catch the train at US.
I get a call from him at 12:09a asking if the metro closed at midnight...OOPS!
He caught a taxi and made it to his hotel just fine, but I still felt bad for forgetting.
Oh well All's well that ends well!
*Until Next Time!*

DC Adventures Day 36 (3.18.13)
Surprisingly enough, I was able to fall asleep around 2:30 this morning. It figures that I send my boots home with my parents and now it's supposed to snow today...and it is! But I'm not complaining - I've got my blue rainboots from the office and a great umbrella.
PLUS! My Bestie came in today!
His plane got delayed in Minneapolis, but he's here now!!
After work (I could BARELY wait to head out), I met him at Union Station. It was raining and chilly, but I swung by TMH first and changed into my jeans, so I was comfy at least.
We headed to Union Pub, because he was hungry, and Leslie had told me the food was pretty decent. I had a Caesar Salad and he got chicken and waffles. He straight up INHALED his. My salad was good, but nothing super wonderful. He was making fun of me for getting giggly after a beer and a half when he spills his cab sauv all over his khaki pants.
I think we were both just super pumped to be able to hang out (IN DC!) without work or school to interfer. We both need some serious Bestie time.
I walked him to US because it was raining, then headed back to TMH.
I received an email from iTunes around 11p, letting me know it was time to download Justin Timberlake's new album...!!!!
I have now danced through 2 songs, done 50 squats and a 35s plank hold, and then danced through 2 more songs. Completely drenched in sweat, trying to catch my breath, and starting to dance (while lying down) to the song that just came on.
And sleep is no where in my future. In all honesty, I've been up all night. I'm labeling this one as being posted on the evening of the 18th to save everyone from confusion...but yeah. Adrenaline, too much coffeee, Justin Timberlake...it's just been a great day and I'm too pumped in my brain to sleep. Hopefully an Adderall and a quick power nap before work will let this day work out without me crashing half way through...

DC Adventures Day 35 (3.17.13)
Happy birthday to my brother Alex, who is celebrating in Heaven.
Add drunk tourists and a very worn out Lyndse, and you get a very boring Sunday evening.
I say evening because while I went to brunch, I went back to sleep and did not get up until 6:30pm.
THAT is because I woke up at 5AM this morning to meet my parents at their hotel and go with them to the airport.
Thankfully, they agreed to take my big VS bag and check it on their flight in order to go ahead and get some of my bulky stuff taken home for free.
They waited with me until 7am, which is the time the metro trains start running, then it was hugs and kisses, them through security, and me on a train. The sunrise was really pretty, but it was really cold. I got back to TMH, ate a wonderful brunch, and the rest is history.
I've been really restless this evening - watching some Sex and the City until 8pm when I Facetime'd with Jarrod (and Squirt!) so I could watch The Walking Dead. Jarrod had to change channels at one point during a heated kissing scene (that prolly turned into more, but he changed the channels just in case). At that point, Squirt was playing a game on his iTouch and could've cared less, but better safe than to pollute a mind. The zombie-ness doesn't even hold his attention for long.
I could barely keep my eyes open towards the end, but after it was over and we said our byes, of course I couldn't sleep.
The girls above and beside me enjoyed their St. Patty's Day apparently - there has been quite a few crashes and bangs, as well as a girl who just couldn't quite get her door unlocked - for an entire minute and a half. There was also somebody singing - just loud enough for me to hear her over my iPad...aisdjfo;aisdf;asdkjf;sldjkf.
Kids.
Hopefully I'll pass out soon...
