On Monday I will be leaving for Egypt...and I am beyond psyched!
We'll have a lovely 10hr layover in Amsterdam (holla!) and then it'll be on to Cairo!
I
promise to update as much as possible, even if it costs me sleepy time
(awesome, I know) so that you can all follow along with my adventures!
I'm
still super busy finishing up my prizes for the end of camp so I won't
have much down time between now and then so I thought I'd give this
intro when I had two seconds to breathe.
Here's the deal:
I
will be traveling with a team of about 30 people from my church, Lake Pointe,
to EGYPT!! We will be leaving the states on June 18th and returning
on July 1st. After spending the first couple of days in and around
Cairo our groups will split and my group will travel a couple hours north to
Camp Wadi to help coach a seven day sports camp for Egyptian children. Kids’ Game Camp (KGC) is broken up into a few different
camps over the summer and we participate in KGC 1 which is for kids that are
11-13 years old.
Last
year I coached Volleyball (gulp – I hadn’t even touched a volleyball since
middle school) but it went very well (the Lord works in mysterious ways!) and I
befriended many children, most were young girls that were thrilled to have an
adult sit down and just listen to them. I helped teach them how to appreciate,
love and forgive. I still correspond with many of them via Facebook and can’t
wait to see them again very soon!
So
start the praying now; prayers for enough interpreters, safe travel,
overall safety, welfare for our families while we are away, and that we
can accomplish what we are there to do - be good examples and plant the
seeds that will grow into lifelong friendships and instill values that
will never be forgotten.
-Until next time!!
