Today was rough.
I was able to get up for brunch, and definitely took advantage of the free meal. I had grapes, half an orange, a mini parfait, sausage and biscuit, eggs and bacon. Mmmm!
The two people that run the kitchen over the weekend are the best ever! The woman that doles out the food is Ms. Rose - and she is a wonderful woman. Every morning she greets each of us with a hearty "Good morning! How are you?" - it's one of those greetings that you can really believe. We always discuss how my week went, and how I'm feeling that day. She's just a great woman. She'll cook your eggs for you, and nothing is ever a bother for her. Love me some Ms. Rose!
After filling my belly, I crashed back to sleep. I woke up a few hours later, showered, and went back to sleep.
Around 4:30pm...yes, PM, I forced myself to get up, straighten my hair, and head out to run some errands.
When I got on the metro at Union Station, there was a girl standing up talking to about 8 or 9 other girls about how her cousin/friend/somebody was dating Chris Brown and sharing him with Rhianna. The girls started talking about how they "just couldn't believe Rhianna would be okay with that!" and how they wouldn't be okay with it, and the "leader" said, "girl, I'd kill you"...I was thinking, 'yeah, if Chris Brown doesn't kill you first". I mean, SERIOUSLY?! This guy beat the EVER LOVING CRAP out of his girlfriend, and you believe he's dating two girls at once...hell, that they're SHARING him...and you're willing to fight for him? Shoot. And of course, they got off at the same stop I did...which meant I had to listen to this crap for 9 stops. I turned up my music instead. GAG ME.
If you take the Red Line all the way to Tenley Town, there is a Best Buy AND a Container Store in the same shopping area. Yeah! I swung into the Container Store first, grabbed a shower caddy for Gaby, and returned a band aid container I had purchased a couple weeks ago (because NONE of band aids fit in it), and then headed to BestBuy.
I went to BB to get a wifi hotspot because, as we all know, the one at TMH isn't known for its fast speeds...especially when all the girls are home. My wonderful dad suggested I just purchase my own - so that's what I was there to do. After finally chasing down an employee, he took me to the mobile area and told me they were somewhere in that area and that I needed to find a blue shirt that said BB Mobile on it...and walked off. "Okay, thanks for that, buddy!" As I looked around me, all I could find were the ones with 2 year contract requirements. I started to get discouraged. Luckily, I looked lost enough that one of the employees, Gavin, asked what I needed, and even more luckily, the couple he had been helping were holding the exact thing I needed. Turns out, they were NOT in that area (thankyouverymuch), but we were able to find it and I got in line so they could register it for me. It comes with a month-to-month contract - no problem. The couple in front of me didn't speak much English, and had to finally call somebody to translate for them. The guy that was registering them was very patient, and got them all set in about 10 minutes. Then he got me signed up and I was outta there!
I went across the street to Starbucks and got a Caramel Macchiatto because it was still REALLY COLD. I also bought a pack of the VIA Caramel Iced Coffee packets. Never had them before, but I figured if it's going to get warm next week, I'd prefer iced coffee over hot coffee. We'll see.
I got back on the subway and headed up one stop to Friendship Heights just in time to see "Silver Linings Playbook". The theater was on the 5th floor of the mall (ridiculous!), and their ticket machines were broke. Then, I get to the concession and order my regular - a med popcorn and a pickle - and the guy looks at me like I'm crazy and says, "Um, we don't sell pickles here"...RIDICULOUS! So I got an Icee instead (white cherry only because their Coke was broken) and made it to the theater in time for the start of the movie. It was so crowded I had to sit on the floor level, but the seats were cushy and it wasn't too bad on my neck because they also leaned back quite a bit.
The movie was phenomenal. Just go see it.
Afterwards, I headed outside and got totally turned around - which wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't lost my gloves during the torrential downpour Tuesday...but I had, so my poor little fingers were freezed to the bone! Google Maps got me back to the train station - apparently when I had arrived I'd taken the wrong tunnel so I went the long way initially, oh well. Lessons learned!
I made it home okay, and tried out the hotspot...it connected to my phone but my Facebook app got stuck on the update screen because it was going so slowly...I'm going to try it again later and see if it works any better (which it had better because I'll throw a fit at BB if it doesn't! - not a real fit, but if I wanted slow I would just stick with what TMH provides). Anyways...now it's West Wing and sleep time.
*Until Next Time!*
